Last Light Horseshoe Bend - Arizona Horeshoe Bend Landscape Print -
Nature at it finesest, I captured this image by climbing up to a spot over looking the hourseshoe bend out on a ledge where I was about a foot from the edge to get this amazing sunset. This spot along the river had a serious drop off so I dangle on the edge hoping not to fall and waited till the sun went down and began to backlight the clouds as it went down creating these great colors in the sky. Many left because they thought it was over, but the sun lite up the clouds with all the color they could muster over the horseshoe bend landmark along the Colorado river in the desert southwest United States. The landscape in this area of Arizona is incredible beautiful and scenic with its canyons, deserts and mountain terrain they are all so beautiful especially at sunset. It is accessible via hiking a 1.5-mile (2.4 km) round trip from U.S. Route 89, but an access road also reaches the geological structure, as it is part of a state park. Horseshoe Bend can be viewed from the steep cliff above. The overlook is 4,200 feet (1,300 m) above sea level, and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet (980 m) above sea level, making it a 1,000-foot (300 m) drop. The rock walls of Horseshoe Bend contain a variety of minerals, among which are hematite, platinum and garnet. Now you can no longer get to this edge I have heard they put up a fence.
