Austin skyline at twilight from along the Ladybird Lake hike and bike trail in downtown part of the city. The city skyline has been changing very fast over the last four or five years as new construction is popping up with new high rise buildings almost every six or seven months in this town. Austin is home to the Texas Capital and the University of Texas along with many tech companies including Apple, Amazon, IBM, Oracle, google, intel to name a few and the growth has been crazy it is fastest growing city in the US in 2016. The metro plex of Austin-Round Rock is over two million people and all you need to do is drive on IH35, or MoPac you will swear all two million are on the roads with you. Austin has government employees, students, teachers, tech companies, tech workers, musicians, plus blue collar workers. Austin is also where the solgan of Keep Austin Weird, which was the city attempt to protect small business and restaurants from its incredibly fast growth. Austin also refers to itself as the Live Music Capital for it many musicians and venues where you can hear live music around the city. Austin also has plenty of lakes with Lady Bird Lake, Lake Austin in the city limits and Lake Travis is within 20 miles to the west in the hill country. One Day At Caddo Lake

I had the pleasure to be able to ride out with another photographer on Caddo lake one morning earlier in Sept and got to witness some beautiful scenery. It got an early start that morning to meet the local photographer at his boat at 5:30am to get out to the first spot for sunrise. We arrived some 45min before sunrise and captured the beginning of the day. Then on the way back I was able to capture some amazing images of the bayous as the sun was just illuminating the Cyprus trees with the morning light and all the birds were out foraging for food.

It was an awesome way to start a Monday out on Caddo Lake watching the day start amount the moss filled Cyprus trees.

Another great Texas Hill Country Sunset over the Bluebonnets. This bluebonnets were taken along the Colorado river in the Hill Country at sunset as the sky turn fiery red. The Texas bluebonnets are a variety of blue wildflowers that grow in the State of Texas every spring which are of the genus Lupinus. Originally in 1901 the state declare only one blue bonnet the state flower however, in 1971 the Texas legislature declare that any flower found to be similar to Lupinus be declared the state flower. The name bluebonnet was from the look of the white flower on top that was similar to the bonnet that woman wore on their heads in the pioneering days. The popularity of the blue bonnet grew after Lady Bird Johnson had push the Highway Beautification Act where she encourage everyone to plant native wildflowers along highways in the state. Today you can find wildflowers along many roads in Texas and the Texas Hill County has been known as one of the better places to find them. Bluebonnets love soil that drain wells and you will find them easily growing along the slopping areas along the roads. Of course some years are better than others but you don't have to drive too far into the hill country to find them along the roads. It is almost that time for the bluebonnets to bloom anywhere between the middle of March to the middle of April depending on where and if we got the right amount of rain and sun here in central Texas. We also have other wildflower that show up near the same time like Indian Paintbrush it changes year to year it is always fun to see what will show up. Golden Glow over Bluebonnet Landscape Pano - Texas Wildflowers - We have been hoping that this farmland in the Texas hill country bluebonnets would come back and this year we got lucky. We capture several images of this field of bluebonnets in a panorama right before sunset which created this nice golden glow over the wildflowers. We came here several times as we never know when or if this bluebonnet landscape will come back again. We spoke with the property owner who was happy we appreciated the wildflowers as much as she did. This was a hugh field of texas bluebonnets in the hill country probably the biggest field of wildflowers in years. Even though the rest of the hill country was only so so this year this field came back after several years of no flowers. Some say bluebonnets or lupines come back every couple of years, but we have seen some field never come back but this year we got lucky. These are some of our favorite field of wildflowers landscapes to capture, the texas bluebonnets in the back roads of the Texas. The bluebonnet is native to the area and the state flower of Texas. All bluebonnets are the state flower but the one we capture the most is the Lupinus texensis. This wildflower has the blue colored pea shaped leaves with the white top which have been planted along the roads by the highway dept. since the days of Lady Bird when she promoted native wildflowers in Texas. Sometimes the bluebonnets will have a violet to purple tint depending on the suns angle in this you see the color change because of the low angle of the sun over this field.

Houston is always a fun place to visit, I prefer spring and fall since summer can be quite hot and humid but still plenty to do. I grew up here and have fond memories as a child. Now there is even more to do with the theater district where you can see a play, or a listen to live music, there are museums, and plenty of parks to visit. On this early morning we were able to capture the sun as it came up along the buffalo bayou with the Houston skyline in the background.
