Description
Saguaro Sunset - Saguaro Sunset Landscape Prints - Taken as the sun was setting in the Saguaro National Park in Arizona with the cactus in silouette. I thought being from Texas I had seen plenty of catus, but no I haven't we have nothing in comparrison to Arizona. Every inch of this place has something that will stick or sting you if your not very careful and I speak from experience, but I love the look of the Saguaro as the sun began to set. The desert southwest has plenty to see. It was amazing to see rows and row of these masses catus every where you look with most being between 20 to 30 ft ft high. They can grow to be 70 ft high. The Saguaro cactus is a protected species so this allows them to thrive very well in this hostile and very dry desert landscape. Some species of the saguaro catus can live to be 150 years. Many birds use the holes created by the woodpecker to make their nest to raise their young. The fruit of the tree has been used to make a fermented drink made from the bright red fruit to summon rains by the O'odham tribes. Check out our Desert Southwest Collection for more images.
