The historic Pleasure Pier was in the same location as today from 1943 till 1961 when hurricane Carla destroyed it and after that a hotel called the Flagship was put on the pier till it was destroyed by hurricane Ike in 2008, they brought back the amusement park and it is certainly a big tourist attraction. We were there and it was so cold the wind never let us forget how cold but even with cold temps the Pleasure Pier seemed to stay very busy both day and night. This is a texas landmark in galveston along the sea wall.
